Upcoming Courses  

In the spring of 2006, the IEEE Toronto Section is offering a 2-day course in Project Management, for those who manage or work on projects, but have little or no formal training in the field. The course is based on processes recommended by the Project Management Institute, the primary authority on project management.
The course, "Project Management - Meeting those Pesky Requirements", is taught by Celia Desmond, B.Sc., M. Eng., President of World Class -Telecommunications. Click here for more Details.

Hall of Fame  The Hall of Fame section features the IEEE Fellows of the Toronto Section.

Photo Image Prof. David A. Johns, FIEEE, received the B.A.Sc.(Engineering Science) in 1980,M.A.Sc and Phd in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1983and 1989 respectively.He is currently a Professor in Dept. of Elec. and Comp. Engineering at the Univ. of Toronto.Where he is a member of the Electronics Group and his research interests include analog integrated circuits, high-speed digital communications and signal-processing resulting in over 40 publications.Dr.Johns is the co-author of a 1997 textbook entitled Analog Integrated Circuit Design which is available from Wiley.He is a past associate editor for IEEE Trans. on Circuits and Systems, both Parts I and II and became an IEEE Fellow in 2000. He has been involved in numerous industrial short courses and spent a 1 year research leave with Brooktree Corp. in San Diego, CA in the area of high-speed digital communications. He has also consulted for a variety of companies including IBM, Lucent, Brooktree, and others. He is a co-founder (with K. Martin)of Snowbush Inc.. which is a Toronto based company specializing in microchip design.
In 2001 he was conferred as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for contributions to for contributions to estimation and modeling of power dissipation in integrated circuits.He is Co-recipient of the 1999 IEEE Darlington Best Paper Award ,the 1999 recepient of the Gordon Slemon Teaching Award and the Co-recipient of 1993 CMC Design Award Click here for a link to Dr.John 's webpage and a few of his publications.

Computer Society Seeks Nominations for Technology of the Decade Award :   20 April – The IEEE Computer Society is seeking nominations for its 60th Anniversary "Technology of the Decade Award," which will recognize a significant contribution to innovative information technology over the past 10 years. Volunteers Invited Volunteering a few hours a month is a very rewarding experience - we have a great group of about 45 volunteers who contribute to the smooth running of our Section - by distributing the workload over many Section members, the individual load is kept small - we are looking for a few additional members to help out in the following specific areas:
