1. Electronic Newsletter (IEEETOR E-News) questions
1.1 Why is my email address on the mailing
list? Either because you are a member of the IEEE Toronto section,
or you subscribed to our non-member list. In any case, it is not our intention
to send the newsletter to someone who does not want it. If you do
not want to be on the list, see the next question.
1.2 How do I subscribe or
unsubscribe?
Go to http://toronto.ieee.ca/news,
enter your email address in the box, select "subscribe" or
"unsubscribe", and click "submit" button. Please
send email to webmaster.toronto@ieee.org
if you have difficulties.
1.3 I tried to unsubscribe, by the script
tells me that my address is not on the list. What now?
Chances are, you are trying to unsubscribe a different address that the
address on our list. If you are using other addresses, try another one
(in general, the address you gave when you applied for IEEE membership
should do). The script which handles (un)subscription requests is case
sensitive - try to type your address in upper/lower case. Please realize
that you might have email alias you are not aware of, and this alias
might be on our list. For example, IEEE executive of CertainCity might
have adress ieee-certaincity-exec@majordomo.ieee.org.
To check under which address your received the newsletter, look at the
full header of your message (see below).
I all of the above fails, please send email to webmaster.toronto@ieee.org describing
your problem. Please include the full header of the
email message you received from us. Header is the initial part of the
message, looking like this:
Return-path: <torsect@sympatico.ca>
Envelope-to: torsect1@interlog.com

etc. etc. Your email program should have "show all headers"
or "show full header" function.
1.4 I am getting duplicate messages. Why?
You are subscribed twice. Try to unsubscribe one of your addresses (see the previous
question).
1.5 I want to change my subscription address. How to do this?
Simply unsubscribe your old address, and subscribe the new one.
2. IEEE membership questions
2.1 How do I become a member of IEEE?
2.2 How do I update my postal address, email, etc.
The volunteers of IEEE Toronto cannot provide any help in matters of
Membership. In particular, those seeking references for membership
application, membership upgrade, or other reasons, should approach
Members able to provide the reference, that is, IEEE Members familiar
with them and their work. IEEE Toronto cannot provide references.
Attending section and chapter meetings is one of the best ways to get to know
IEEE Members and IEEE Senior Members, who will then be able to provide
references when required. For membership related information, please
