IEEE Toronto Section Executive Committee Biographies
The operation of the IEEE Toronto Section is managed by the Section Executive committee, whose members are elected or appointed every two years. On each of these pages, we introduce a member of the committee who volunteers his or her time and energy to deliver the services that the IEEE Toronto Section provides. On your behalf, we recognize their invaluable contributions.

April Khademi - IEEE Canada Regional Student Representative and Past GOLD Affinity Group Chair

April Khademi is a PhD Candidate in Electrical Engineering at the University of Toronto.  She was awarded an NSERC-CGSD for her research, which concerns Medical Image Processing for the Objective Quantification of Pathology in MRI. In addition to her research and teaching activities, April also provides engineering services through Khademi Consulting in the biomedical and DSP domains.

April has been an active member in IEEE for the last several years.  She has served on the Local Arrangement Committee of IEEE’s ICME 2006, was the Secretary for the Toronto Section GOLD group from 2006 to 2007 and is the registration Chair for IEEE’s CCECE 2008.  Currently, April serves the TS GOLD group as the Chair, and is the Regional Student Representative for IEEE Canada.

In her spare time, April takes part in several mentoring and outreach programs, to encourage young minds to pursue careers in engineering.  She also enjoys teaching for University students, especially in the DSP, biomedical and communications area.
