IEEE Toronto Section Executive Committee Biographies
The operation of the IEEE Toronto Section is managed by the Section Executive committee, whose members are elected or appointed every two years. On each of these pages, we introduce a member of the committee who volunteers his or her time and energy to deliver the services that the IEEE Toronto Section provides. On your behalf, we recognize their invaluable contributions.

Brian Courtney, M IEEE - Vice-Chair Engineering in Medicine and Biology Chapter

Dr. Courtney has a B.A.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He also has a Masters in Electrical Engineering and M.D. degree from Stanford University where he conducted research in cardiovascular imaging. He was an active member of the IEEE EMBS in Silicon Valley for 6 years before moving back to Canada. As the co-founded of two companies in Silicon Valley, Brian has experience in the bench-to-bedside commercialization of medical devices and related technologies. He is in the final year of his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto where he continues to perform research alongside his clinical work. He has a strong interest in continuing to develop and supporting others who develop new technologies for clinical use.
