Biography

Dr. Christophe N'Goran Kouame, MD
Christophe has a medical degree from the National University of Abidjan- Cocody and the University of Bouake, (Ivory Coast) in West Africa. He also has a Masters degree in sociology from the University of Bouake (Ivory Coast). He is a recent graduate of the Centennial College (Toronto) Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion program. Christophe volunteers at the Centre Francophone of Toronto as a community health worker. He enjoys raising awareness about health within the French speaking community in Toronto. In the future he plans to re-qualify as a medical doctor in Canada. Christophe has worked as an obstetrician in Abidjan and Oume, Ivory Coast (West Africa) and as a humanitarian medical doctor he worked with the British International NGO Merlin in the west of Ivory Coast. He has participated on a mission with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders (MSF) in Democratic Republic Congo (Bunia). Christophe collaborated with other international MSF staff and local DRC MSF workers to deliver emergency and primary health care in a remote area.

Steve Dennis, P.Eng
Steve Dennis born in Windsor and raised in Toronto is a Civil Engineer with broad humanitarian experience. Steve studied civil engineering at the University of Toronto and graduated in 1999. He has worked at Halsall Associates doing building science engineering. His interest in humanitarian work started in Sri Lanka with MSF as a logistician and administrator. His travels have included visiting and working in Guatemala, Europe and east Africa. His overseas volunteering experience with MSF has included the following:

2002-3 (8 months) Mallavi and Puthukkudiyiruppu, Sri Lanka
2003-4 (12 months) Lankien and Pieri, South Sudan
2005 (6 months) Galcayo, Somalia
2006 (11 months) Danane, Ivory Coast
2007 (3 months) Kilinochchi, Sri Lanka
2007 (2 months) Various locations, Chad
2008 (6 months) Kismayo and Mogadishu, Somalia
2009 (6 weeks) Vavuniya, Sri Lanka

Steve is currently continuing studies with a master?s degree in international relations at the Munk Centre, University of Toronto.
