Seminar Announcement

Organizer: IEEE Toronto Section, Instrumentation & Measurement Society
Title: Ion-mobility Spectrometry Development and Challenges
Summary:
TIon mobility spectrometry (IMS) refers to the principles, practice and instrumentation for characterizing chemical substances through gas phase ion mobilities. Ion mobilities are characteristic of substances and can provide a means for detecting and identifying vapors.
Barringer Research Limited (BRL), founded in 1961 is an innovative, high technology instrumentation company that develops, manufactures and markets chemical detection systems for a wide variety of applications, most notably the "IONSCAN" ion mobility spectrometer, introduced in 1990 for the detection of concealed explosives and narcotics in Security applications.
Technology advancements in ion mobility spectrometry and various challenges during its development and commercialization will be discussed.
