Biography

Dr. Bin Wu received his M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Toronto in 1989 and 1993, respectively. After being with Rockwell Automation Canada as a Senior Engineer, he joined Ryerson University, where he is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Ryerson Research Chair. Dr. Wu has co-authored close to 100 peer reviewed technical papers and held five US patents with another two pending, most of which are in the area of high power converters and drives. His book (monograph) entitled ‘High Power Converters and AC Drives’ is scheduled to be jointly publish by IEEE Press and Wiley in January 2006. Dr. Wu is the recipient of various awards at institutional, provincial and national level, including Ryerson Distinguished Scholar Award, Premier's Research Excellence Award (PREA), the Gold Medal of the Governor General of Canada, and 2002 NSERC Synergy Award for Innovation. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics.
