| Abstract
|
Just in time for Valentine’s Day: This is a must see event for the whole family. The SOOS show is the highlight of the Canadian orchid-lovers calendar. We feature thousands of amazing and exotic blooms on display.
The newly renovated Toronto Bontanical Gardens building now affords us an amazing location for over 30 spectacular displays and a vast selection of orchids for sale in our sales areas. Anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature will want to attend this show.
To quote Tom Shields, whose personal jungle contains about 300 orchids, in an article he wrote about this show.
……“Here you will see orchids in seemingly endless and nearly unimaginable shapes, bold colours, splashy patterns, contrasting textures and artistic arrangements! The dazzling colors and patterns seen in orchids often seem painted. Did you know there are over 30,000 species and over 100,000 hybrids? You will find many nicknames for orchids such as dancing doll, moth, pansy, spider, slipper, just to name a few. You may be surprised to know that many orchids can be grown on windowsills or even under artificial lights if you wish. They art not the fragile plants you once thought them to be! |
