| Abstract |
With Hydro One experienced two failures of dry type shunt reactors at the exact same location at Wawa TS. It is suspected that this is due to an unusual wind condition that blocks the natural convective cooling and results in significant premature thermal degradation. This talk will include a description of the failure and subsequent investigation, the wind tunnel tests conducted by Trench, and the implementation of the solution.

| Biography |
Behdad Biglar received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the university of Science and Technology, Iran, and M.A.Sc. from the University of Waterloo, in 1992 and 1999. He worked three years in distribution department of Electrical Power Research Center in Iran. He worked for trench limited from 1999 till 2008 as design engineer and later application engineer. He joined Hydro One in 2008 and currently works at Hydro One as Equipment Engineer.
