IEEE Toronto Section - Chapters

IEEE Society Chapter Activities
A Society Chapter is formed in the Section to create technical programs that are within the technical pervue of the Society. Because the Chapter is also a unit of the Society, it has access to experts and technical content associated with the Society. Many Societies provide technical speakers for Chapter meetings at no charge to the Chapter (or the Section). Joint-chapters combine the expertise of two or more Societies. In the list below, the link on the Chapter name points to a page providing more detail about the Chapter including upcoming and past meetings, and the link on the Chapter chair's name is a "mailto" so you can contact the person via e-mail.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 2008-2009, a wide-scale organizational improvement initiative was undertaken.
As a result, two (2) new chapters were formed: Nuclear and Plasma Sciences, and Magnetics.
Also, four (4) existing technical chapters were re-organized to create new affiliations with additional IEEE Societies:
  • Engineering and Human Environment Chapter:
    • IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society
    • IEEE Industrial Electronics Society
  • Communications Chapter:
    • IEEE Broadcast Technology Society
    • Instrumentation and Measurement Chapter:
    • IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society
    • IEEE Robotics and Automation Society
  • Industry Applications Chapter:
    • IEEE Power Electronics Society
    • IEEE Consumer Electronics Society.
At present, Toronto Section has affiliations with all IEEE societies (click here to see the organizational chart). It is the second one worldwide to have affiliations with all IEEE Societies (after Italy Section).
-------------------------- effective Aug 12, 2005, the following chapters --------------------------
were reorganized into the new ones listed above
