Mehrnaz Shokrollahi - Signal Processing Chapter Vice-Chair
Mehrnaz Shokrollahi is a PhD Candidate in the Electrical Engineering program at Ryerson University. She completed a BEng degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2007, followed by a MASc in the same discipline in 2009 at Ryerson University. She recently was awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarships in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) for her academic achievements and notable academic performance. She has been also awarded the Ryerson Graduate award for many consecutive years. Moreover, Mehrnaz has been active in professional activities, serving as a vice chair of IEEE Toronto Signal Processing Section, in addition to serving as publication committee coordinator and technical committee member for several IEEE conferences including the ICUE 2011, TIC-STH 2009 and CCECE 2008. Mehrnaz has served twice on the Chair Search Committee for Electrical and Computer Engineering and as appointed member of search committee of the Dean of Graduate Studies working along with the Provost and Vice President of Ryerson University. She has also been the Signal Analysis Research (SAR) laboratory manager since 2009.
Her doctoral research centers on signal processing and sparse approximation, and bears a particular focus on the analysis of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and their viability for detecting depression in patients with insomnia.
