Abstract:
This lecture provides a tutorial overview of some recently developed mixed-mode methods for enhancing the accuracy and linearity of analog-to-digital as well as digital-to-analog data converters. This is achieved by embedding auxiliary digital circuitry which calibrates, cancels or corrects the errors introduced by the inherent imperfections of the analog components used in the conversion. Simple but practical examples are used to illustrate the various improvement techniques.

Biography:
Gabor Temes, Ph.D., University of Ottawa, 1961. Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Oregon State University, Professor Emeritus, UCLA. Formerly with UCLA, Ampex Corp., Stanford University and BNR. Life Fellow, IEEE. He received the Technical Achievement Award and the Education Award of the IEEE CAS Society, as well as the IEEE Centennial Medal. He has written many books and papers on discrete and integrated circuit design. He is the recipient of the 1998 IEEE Graduate Teaching Award and received the IEEE Millennium Medal and the IEEE-CAS Golden Jubilee Medal in 2000.
