| Abstract
|
Our fancy gizmos are inflicting significant harm on the environment. A
UN University study says making the average PC requires 10 times the
weight of the product in chemicals and fossil fuels. Many of the
chemicals are toxic, while the use of fossil fuels help contribute to
global warming. The cadmium from one mobile phone battery is enough to
pollute 600,000 litres of water. How big of a problem is E-Waste? How
are the rules changing and what can Engineers do to smooth the way?
